The Purple Wheel Charity Bike Ride, organized by The James M. Dixon Foundation, supports individuals with Alzheimer’s and related dementias, along with their caregivers. It also supports students studying brain health, gerontology, and neurology. This event raises funds, raises awareness about dementia, and provides caregiver support.
By participating in or supporting The Purple Wheel Charity Bike Ride, individuals can make a tangible difference in the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias!

Ride assistance led by The Foundation provided volunteers and security will end at 11:30 am EST. Participants are free to ride under their own supervision following this time, but the event will end promptly at 11:30 EST.

Route Break Segments:
10 miles, 15 miles
Event Segments:
20 miles, 30 miles
Starting in Southwest Atlanta, the bike route will travel through 3 additional cities and contain 2 water stations/ break points for participants to take a beat or head back to the starting point. With varying segments, each rider is free to go at their own pace and desired distance. A detailed map of the route and directions to the meeting point will be provided upon registration.
Foundation volunteers and city police members will be present throughout the event to ensure a safe and seamless bike ride from beginning to end.
In the event of dangerous weather conditions, the James M. Dixon Foundation reserves the right to cancel the ride. Registration fees are non-refundable and will not be deferred to the next year. A meeting place will be provided for registered participants to pick up their swag bags.
